Tartan Army fan favourites, Tartan Specials, self-described as the world’s leading Scottish-football-themed rock and roll band, have released the five-track EP We’re Gonnae Bring The Euros Home, including three tracks specifically written for Scotland’s Euro 2020 campaign.

The title track is an incongruous mix of influences, incorporating nursery rhyme, spaghetti westerns, and cossack music. But perhaps the most jarring element of the track is its insistence that Scotland will win the entire tournament.

“With We’re Gonnae Bring the Euros Home we were aiming to tread the fine line between optimism, positivity, and utter delusion. We are going to win this tournament. I think. Maybe.” said lead singer, Kenny McIntosh, almost convincingly.

Next up is It’s Been 23 F****** Years, chronicling just how long and painful a wait it has been to qualify for a major tournament. For Scotland’s men’s team, anyway.

Bassist Kenny McColl said: “To put it into perspective, when we last qualified, it was £1.50 a pint, and you couldn’t Google Britney Spears - because nobody had heard of either Google or Britney Spears”.

The third Euro 2020 track, Halfway There, is sung by lead guitarist Stevie Suttie and relates to Scotland’s qualification as only being halfway to winning the tournament... though there have been rumours that it was actually written about a particularly reluctant jobby. The band has so far refused to address this controversy.

Rounding out the EP are Drunk Footsoldier, a blatant and belated attempt to jump on the sea shanty bandwagon, and long-time live favourite, Flower of Scotland, with a video featuring footage from a sold-out show at the Barrowlands.

We’re Gonnae Bring The Euros Home is available on all major streaming and download sites.
